I have taken each area, from lineage to Reiki attunements, chakras to healing, from the secrecy that tends to surround Reiki, to the idea of Reiki symbols. Through looking at each of these areas, you can gain an overview of Reiki as a whole and understand it in light of a broader spiritual understanding.
Reiki is about more than healing or Reiki attunements, it is about the nature of your own identity and how you relate to the world around you. Any spiritual system presses into fundamental questions about the nature of life, death and who we think we are, Reiki is no different.
Traditional Reiki, born out of Buddhism, shows itself to be a long term spiritual exploration, a way of life that encourages all those exploring themselves to consider many ideas about energy, health and the nature of their own consciousness, the nature of their identity.
Reiki, as it is taught in the West, lends itself to a different mind set, neither are right or wrong but a combination of the wisdom that can be gained from taking a long term view of our spiritual development together with modern understandings about the nature of health, energy and healing bring about more benefits than either approach.
